Wiblo Account Deletion

Last updated: May 22, 2026

You have the right to request the deletion of your Wiblo account and the personal data associated with it at any time. This page explains how to submit a deletion request, what happens during the 14-day grace period, which data is permanently deleted, which data is retained to comply with legal obligations, and what rights you can exercise under the GDPR.

How to delete your account

You can request the deletion of your Wiblo account through two channels:

Option 1 β€” From the Wiblo mobile app

  1. Open the Wiblo app on your device.
  2. Go to Settings β†’ Account β†’ Delete my account.
  3. Confirm your request. The 14-day grace period begins immediately.

Option 2 β€” From this website

If you do not have the Wiblo app installed, or if you can no longer access your account, use the form at the bottom of this page:

  1. Enter your email address in the form below on this page.
  2. You will receive a confirmation email at that address (link valid for 48 hours).
  3. Click the confirmation link in the email to validate your request.
  4. The 14-day grace period then begins, after which your account is permanently deleted.

Deletion timeline

PhasePeriodWhat happens
Grace periodD+0 to D+14Your account is marked for deletion. Your data remains in the database but is flagged as inactive. You can cancel the request at any time by logging back into the Wiblo app.
Effective deletionD+14An automated edge function permanently purges your personal data from our active database. The operation is immediate and irreversible.

How to cancel a deletion request

You can cancel a pending deletion request at any time during the 14-day grace period. Simply log back into the Wiblo mobile app with your email and password β€” the deletion is automatically cancelled and your account is fully reactivated.

After the D+14 effective deletion date, cancellation is no longer possible: your personal data has been permanently removed from our servers.

What data is deleted

At D+14, the following personal data is permanently deleted from our active database:

  • Account identifiers (email, username, password hash)
  • Profile data (avatar, date of birth, profile completion status)
  • Interests, preferences, marketing opt-in choices
  • Notification preferences and push tokens
  • Gamification data (Points, XP, Levels, badges, login streaks, tickets)
  • Test history (tests started, completed, rejected)
  • Reviews submitted on Projects (linked to your Tester identity, deleted in cascade)
  • Votes cast on Ideas
  • Reports filed against Reviews
  • Projects you created as a Creator (where applicable β€” see "What data is retained" below)
  • PostHog analytics profile (anonymized event identifier)

What data is retained (and why)

Some data must legally be retained after your account is deleted. It is stored separately, encrypted, and can no longer be linked to your active profile.

DataRetention periodLegal basis
Invoices and payment records10 yearsFrench Commercial Code, Article L123-22 β€” accounting obligations
Anonymized security logs6 monthsGDPR Article 32 β€” security obligation

Note on Projects published as a Creator: Projects you have published may remain on the Wiblo platform after your account is deleted, with an empty creator profile. This preserves the integrity of the feedback received by the community and the Wiblo catalog. The link between you and these Projects is severed during deletion.

Consequences of deletion

  • Irreversible: Once the D+14 effective deletion has been executed, your account cannot be restored. You may re-register at any time, but no past data (Points, Levels, badges, test history) is recovered.
  • Re-registration: You can create a new Wiblo account using the same email address after the effective deletion. The new account starts from scratch.
  • Projects: If you have published Projects as a Creator, they may remain visible on the platform with an anonymized profile (see above).
  • Reviews and votes: All Reviews and votes you have submitted are deleted in cascade with your Tester profile.
  • Marketing communications: Your email is removed from all marketing lists as soon as the deletion request is received, regardless of the 14-day grace period.

Your other GDPR rights

Beyond the right to erasure, the GDPR grants you additional rights over your personal data. The full list of rights, along with the procedure to exercise each one, is documented in our Privacy Policy:

  • Right of access β€” Obtain a copy of your personal data
  • Right to rectification β€” Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to data portability β€” Retrieve your data in a structured format (JSON, CSV)
  • Right to restriction of processing β€” Temporarily freeze the processing of your data
  • Right to object β€” Refuse certain processing activities (marketing, analytics)

If you believe your GDPR rights are not being respected, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL): cnil.fr/fr/plaintes.
